Senior Citizens Still Have Much To Contribute To Our Society

Press Release: 15 November 2021: Senior citizens are old and full of life experiences, but is this age group regarded by us to be charming and fascinating?

It seems that not many people care enough about elderly people to believe that they're beautiful. Many believe that elderly people are useless as long as they assist us with housework or help us with our kids. One of my friends when we talk about the elderly, says- What can you expect of the elderly in your family? Their strength is gone and their brains are decaying. If they want to do something, they can do it at home. them.

I am not in agreement with this. Many Chinese believe that older people should spend their golden decades cooking or taking care of their children as adults instead of doing something they love. This is a popular belief I've heard and it has me frightened to think about what I will be doing when I am older.

Until one day when I was able to meet a group of senior aunties at my gym, which opened my eyes to a whole new world. It was my first lesson in yoga this year and I was astonished to see how many aunties there. There were just four of us of my age. As we began I was shocked to see that all the aunties were much more skilled and flexible than me and the other students of my age group.

It is essential to understand and acknowledge that older people are highly skilled resources. They are much better than us in our 30s, 20s, and 40s due to the fact that they have accomplished more in their lives than we do. This is why seniors are more likely to contribute to the society they live in. For example, we could build an online platform where they can share their specialities. Many elderly people remain at home, usually in a stereotypical situation. Many want to get out and contribute to the world. My mother-in law complained to me that she couldn't participate in a hospital, or participate in a volunteer program because she does not have a medical license. I am convinced that if her community would give an opportunity to re-enter the workforce perhaps by teaching residents how to use first aid - we could all benefit from her participation.

Even though my mom is retired, she works for a local company each week. She is happy with her work because it provides her with an immense sense of pride and enhances our relationship. harmonious. Many of her friends suggest that she "have a good sleep" instead of going to work. I , however, support her.

I don't think that offering older people more chances means that younger people are going to lose their jobs. They can work in different fields, like intangible heritages , and things they are familiar with and are knowledgeable about. Shanghai is home to senior citizen centers within each locality, however I propose that we name these centers "senior master activity centers."

The "master teachers" can impart to us give us a lot of wisdom. My father-in-law, as an example, began to learn how to draw traditional Chinese artwork at a local college. He was awarded a prize in a competition that took place in 2021. It is our duty to let the old age use their talents and aid them in finding something meaningful in their lives. If we don't, when we become old, all we'll have to look towards is negotiating for the price of our vegetables and talking to our neighbors.
